of the Rochford District The face of the Rochford district is ever changing with the times, but without forgetting it's
history. On a tour of the district a number of historical places of interest are noted. Including St Andrew's Church
in Ashingdon which was built by King Canute in 1020. Other places of historic interest include Rayleigh mount where Rayleigh
castle was situated and the only castle to be noted in the Domesday survey of 1086 and The Old House in Rochford, which was
first built in around 1270 which is now one of Rochford District Councils Offices.
